This course is a balanced, comprehensive program that develops skill in reading and writing, speaking and listening and fosters the appreciation of language arts. The course includes studies of various literary genres: short story, poetry, novel, drama, nonfiction and informational. The development of critical reading and writing skills is a major emphasis of this course. Students will continue to apply the knowledge and skills acquired in the eighth grade but in a more refined and sophisticated form.
