Detroit Public TV Programming for Kids
\nStarting Monday, March 30, Detroit Public TV is responding to the learning needs of families with children at home as a result of Michigan schools being closed because of the COVID-19 crisis by adjusting its entire daytime programming schedule.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
From 7am until 6pm Monday through Friday, DPTV will offer blocks of programming geared to specific age groups \u2013 early childhood, middle school and high school \u2013 on its main broadcast channel (56.1), as part of a collaboration with Michigan\u2019s public television stations and the national PBS system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
DPTV\u2019s schedule during those hours will be filled with PBS programming that aligns to curriculum goals, with online learning activities associated with each show. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The new daytime schedule draws on many popular PBS programs, like \u201cMasterpiece,\u201d \u201cNOVA,\u201d \u201cAmerican Experience,\u201d and recent specials, we know our adult viewers who also find themselves at home will find it appealing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
While Michigan schools are closed this school year, weekday programming will be as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
7am to 9am \u2014 Current PBS KIDS programming (Ages 2-8 years old)
\n9am to 1pm \u2014 Grades 4th-8th
\n1pm to 6pm \u2014 Grades 9th-12th
\nParents and caregivers seeking traditional PBS KIDS programming after 9am will find it on the 24\/7 Detroit PBS KIDS Channel (56.2). Programming will go back to our original schedule once the need is over.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
