{"id":330,"date":"2018-11-12T08:24:28","date_gmt":"2018-11-12T13:24:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/lisaformosalittle\/?p=330"},"modified":"2018-11-12T08:24:28","modified_gmt":"2018-11-12T13:24:28","slug":"high-schools-battling-against-hunger","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/lisaformosalittle\/2018\/11\/12\/high-schools-battling-against-hunger\/","title":{"rendered":"High Schools Battling Against Hunger"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dearborn\u2019s three traditional high schools are again collecting food for a local charity.\u00a0 For the first time, this year\u2019s drive will kick off with\u00a0a family friendly one- or two-mile run at Ford Field Park.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>This year\u2019s fourth annual Battling Against Hunger drive is a cooperative effort between Dearborn, Edsel Ford and Fordson high schools, with help from the elementary and middle schools that feed into those buildings. \u00a0The drive runs from Nov. 12 to 16.\u00a0 The goal is to collect 30,000 canned goods for Zaman International and $7,600 for the Amity Foundation.<\/p>\n<p>New this year will be a Turkey Trot on Nov. 10 at Ford Field Park.\u00a0 The family event includes a one-mile fun run or walk starting at 9:30 a.m. and a two-mile run at 10 a.m.\u00a0 Entrance fee for either event is $15 or 15 cans of food.\u00a0\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/dearbornschools.org\/images\/articles\/pressreleases\/Turkey_Trot_Registration.pdf\">Turkey Trot registration forms<\/a>\u00a0are available here.<\/p>\n<p>Battling Against Hunger began three years ago as an off-field competition between crosstown rivals Fordson and Dearborn High to help families in need.
