{"id":981,"date":"2017-09-27T15:56:10","date_gmt":"2017-09-27T19:56:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/lesseln\/?p=981"},"modified":"2017-09-27T15:56:10","modified_gmt":"2017-09-27T19:56:10","slug":"week-of-sept-27","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/lesseln\/2017\/09\/27\/week-of-sept-27\/","title":{"rendered":"Week of Sept. 27"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This week we will begin our Unit on &#8220;What makes a story effective?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>During this unit you will be analyzing text to determine if they are effective.<\/p>\n<p>You will be creating a claim and backing it up with evidence and reasoning (CER).<\/p>\n<p>You will also analyze how the\u00a0 word choice of the author (tone) creates the mood.<\/p>\n<p>Monday:\u00a0 We will create a list of elements needed to make a story effective.<\/p>\n<p>Tuesday: You will create Frayer models of vocabulary words for &#8220;The Elevator&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><em>If you are absent here is the list of words, chose 1 row to do.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/lesseln\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/558\/2017\/09\/Elevator-Vocab.pdf\">Elevator Vocab<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/lesseln\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/558\/2017\/09\/Frayer-Model.pdf\">Frayer Model<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Wednesday: You will present those words to the class.<\/p>\n<p>Thursday: You will read short story &#8221; The Elevator&#8221; on page 31 of our literature book.<\/p>\n<p>Friday: You will write a CER response to the question, &#8221; Is &#8220;The Elevator&#8221; an effective story?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Homework<\/strong>: READ and bring your book to class each day to read as well.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Remember you must complete a book by\u00a0 October 27th.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This week we will begin our Unit on &#8220;What makes a story effective?&#8221; During this unit you will be analyzing text to determine if they are effective.
