Elayana Bazzi&#8217;s first place essay will now advance to the state level competition in April.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>This Week&#8217;s Agenda<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Monday:\u00a0<\/strong>PSAT<\/p>\n<p>Diagnostic Quiz 1 -4 should now be completed and your individualized practice is now ready for you to work on to better prepare you for the PSAT on April 9th.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tuesday- Thursday<\/strong> Act 1 Scene 3-5<\/p>\n<p>Work on Character Charts and Scene Summaries<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Friday:<\/strong> Diary of Anne Frank Test<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Homework<\/strong>: Read and PSAT Practice<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Extra Credi<\/strong>t: Read Theory and Essay Contests<\/p>\n<p>There are several opportunities for you to earn extra credit by participating in the following essay contests. <strong>A copy of any work submitted to a contest must also be provided to us in order to receive extra credit.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0\u201cDo the Write Thing\u201d\u00a0Due by Thursday, February 28<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/www.dtwtdetroit.com\/<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Do the Write Thing&#8221; invites your 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students to participate in the 2019 \u201cDo the Write Thing Challenge\u201d. All across America, students are rising to the challenge of doing something to end youth violence. The \u201cChallenge\u201d gives middle school students an opportunity to examine the impact of violence on their lives and to communicate in written form what they think should be done to reduce youth violence. Personal responsibility is emphasized.<\/p>\n<p>Student entries, at a minimum, should address the following three questions:<strong> How has violence affected my life? What are the causes of youth violence? What can I do about youth violence?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Entries must be 500 to 1,000 words in length,non-fiction and be your own individual work. Any work quoted must be cited directly. Inspired by their parent\u2019s stories of survival during the Holocaust, the Kappy family generously sponsors this competition to not only memorialize the victims, but to educate students about the dangers of hatred, prejudice, and discrimination.
