{"id":137,"date":"2016-04-27T19:59:47","date_gmt":"2016-04-27T23:59:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/kushnic\/?p=137"},"modified":"2016-04-27T19:59:47","modified_gmt":"2016-04-27T23:59:47","slug":"its-paper","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/kushnic\/2016\/04\/27\/its-paper\/","title":{"rendered":"It&#8217;s paper!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>At Salina, we are literally in the shadow of the Ford Rouge plant.&nbsp; So when I saw this idea for construction paper &#8220;stones,&#8221; I immediately thought of Fordite, also known as Ford or Motor Agate.<\/p>\n<p>Back when cars were spray painted by hand, overspray would accumulate on the skids used to hold up the car frames. This paint would build up and be baked repeatedly.&nbsp; When chunks of it were removed and polished, something awesome happened&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/kushnic\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1880\/2016\/04\/screenshot_2016-04-27-19-41-40-1.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"Screenshot_2016-04-27-19-41-40-1.png\" class=\"alignnone size-full\"  alt=\"image\" src=\"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/kushnic\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1880\/2016\/04\/screenshot_2016-04-27-19-41-40-1.png\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/kushnic\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1880\/2016\/04\/screenshot_2016-04-27-19-41-50-1.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"Screenshot_2016-04-27-19-41-50-1.png\" class=\"alignnone size-full\"  alt=\"image\" src=\"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/kushnic\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1880\/2016\/04\/screenshot_2016-04-27-19-41-50-1.png\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Cars are painted differently now, so authentic Fordite is in limited supply.<\/p>\n<p>3D students mimicked this effect by gluing layers of construction paper together and sanding it once dry.
