Now that our slideshows are completed, you will migrate around the classroom, learning of the other six characteristics of civilizations. During this Gallery Walk you will take notes on each characteristic. You will be taking these notes on a graphic organizer (see below). Make sure to record what the characteristic was like in Sumer, why it was important, and a modern day example of the characteristic. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

You will have about 20 minutes to complete the Gallery Walk and fill in your graphic organizer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

After this, we will re-group and discuss each characteristic, clearing up any confusions and making sure we are all on the same page as we proceed forward. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Throughout our discussion, and with the help of your graphic organizer, you will fill in a bubble thinking map. On the thinking map you will do the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. [in the round bubble] Write your own definition of each characteristic (after we compile a list of all of your ideas on the board). <\/li>
  2. [in the cloud-bubble] Write or draw how each characteristic works today.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
