Your plastic folder should be with you every day. I usually assign homework daily, and it\u2019s due the next day unless I tell you otherwise.\u00a0 I expect you to finish your homework <strong>on time<\/strong> and <strong>to the best of your knowledge<\/strong>.\u00a0 I usually don\u2019t grade your homework, but may make exceptions from time to time.\u00a0 You will always be notified.\u00a0 Here are the symbols we will use on homework:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>+\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Turned in on time and complete<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Incomplete work<\/p>\n<p>Late \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Work turned in late<\/p>\n<p>Unacceptable work and missed homework must be redone\/made up at school missing your recess or fun time.\u00a0 (I may make some exceptions for students with good record.)\u00a0 Some missed assignments may negatively affect your report card grade.<\/p>\n<p>On Friday, all your corrected work will go home.\u00a0 These pieces should be reviewed by\u00a0\u00a0 your parents.\u00a0 Please DO NOT bring them back to school.<\/p>\n<p>In the front pocket of your Homework folder, you will find a monthly calendar with important events listed.\u00a0 On this calendar, you will also record your daily Homework points.<\/p>\n<p>In the back pocket of your Homework folder, you will find a Home Reading Log on which you will keep track of your reading every night.\u00a0 I will collect these HRL\u2019s on Fridays.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li><u>Assignment Planner<\/u>. It is in your own interest to keep materials organized and manage your time effectively.\u00a0 To help you remember your assignments, you will be given an Assignment Planner.\u00a0 You will record your homework, reminders, messages, behavior points, and important events every day.\u00a0 You will have to bring this planner with you every day.\u00a0 I also ask you to have your parents sign the page daily.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Absence and Tardiness<\/p>\n<p>Please be aware that we have LATE beginning time on some Wednesdays.\u00a0 I will let you know these days, but you can also find them on our district\u2019s website (www.dearbornschools.org).\u00a0 Our day starts at 8:30, or on these Wednesdays at 9:30, each morning.\u00a0 At this time, you are expected to be <strong>in your assigned class line<\/strong> on the playground.\u00a0 You should ALWAYS line up in number order to avoid arguments.<\/p>\n<p>If you know that you will be absent or late one day, it is your responsibility to notify the office.\u00a0 Please have your parents call <strong>827 \u2013 6400<\/strong> to let the school know of your whereabouts.\u00a0 If you walk in the classroom after 8:50, I will mark you tardy.\u00a0 Do your best to be on time every day.\u00a0 You don\u2019t want to miss an important part of the day and\/or disrupt the class.<\/p>\n<p>In case you\u2019re absent, the Absent Work Monitor will collect the assignments for you in the Absent Folder.\u00a0 Upon your return, I will review the material with you and set a due date for its completion.<\/p>\n<p>Life in the Classroom<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><u>Bathroom\/Drinks<\/u>. To make sure that you don\u2019t miss important instruction, we will have bathroom and drinking procedures in place. At any time, only 1 boy and 1 girl may go to the bathroom.\u00a0 We have a bathroom pass that you will have to use at times.\u00a0 This way I will know where you are in case I forget that you asked.\u00a0 You will be able to use the bathroom at the following times:\n<ol>\n<li>Before 8:45 (no pass needed)<\/li>\n<li>During indoor lunch recess<\/li>\n<li>After 3:25<\/li>\n<li>Emergency \u2013 once in the morning &amp; once in the afternoon during non-instructional time<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO BATHROOM DURING CAF\u00c9!!!!<\/p>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li><u>Snacks<\/u>. You are allowed to bring a HEALTHY snack to class and eat it during our snack time.\u00a0 Junk food will not be allowed in the classroom, and after the first few weeks, it will be confiscated!\u00a0 Rule of thumb: ask me if you are unsure about something.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li><u>Birthdays<\/u>. You may bring birthday treats to class on or around your birthday. Please let me know a day or two before so that I can plan the day accordingly.\u00a0 If you wish to bring cupcakes and drinks, it is your responsibility to supply napkins, straws, forks, cups, etc. for I have very limited supply of such things.\u00a0 Currently we have 21 students.\u00a0 PLEASE NO SHEET CAKES!!!!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol start=\"4\">\n<li><u>Dismissal<\/u>. I will stop instruction around 3:20 each day. You will be asked to write down your homework and pack your backpack during this time.\u00a0 We will leave the room together, and you will be expected to be in line by 3:33 so we can leave on time.\u00a0 Your parents, siblings, and other family members will NOT be able to pick you up from the classroom.\u00a0 They will have to wait OUTSIDE of the building.\u00a0 Please agree on a spot where you will be picked up daily.\u00a0 In case your parents wish to pick you early, have them call the office<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol start=\"5\">\n<li><u>Tests<\/u>. Tests will always be announced to the class approximately a week in advance. Most of the time, I will send home a study guide to help you focus on important facts and ideas.\u00a0 Tests MUST BE SIGNED by your parents and RETURNED the next day.\u00a0 This is to keep your parents aware of your progress.\u00a0 Occasionally, I will allow test retakes.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol start=\"6\">\n<li><u>Report Cards<\/u>. You report card will be similar to your previous ones.
