{"id":187,"date":"2019-01-11T15:42:59","date_gmt":"2019-01-11T20:42:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/khzouza\/?p=187"},"modified":"2019-01-11T15:42:59","modified_gmt":"2019-01-11T20:42:59","slug":"january-week-1-update","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/khzouza\/2019\/01\/11\/january-week-1-update\/","title":{"rendered":"January Week 1 Update"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Welcome back!<\/p>\n<p>I hope everyone had a relaxing holiday weekend with family.\u00a0 This first week back from break we spent doing a lab on exothermic and endothermic reactions.<\/p>\n<p>Monday-We reviewed expectations and norms of the classroom as a refresher for students.\u00a0 Being gone for two full weeks can throw us off at times and we forget the rules.\u00a0 We set up our notebooks for the lab and went over lab procedures and expectations.<\/p>\n<p>Tuesday-Thursday we completed the exothermic and endothermic lab.\u00a0 Students learned about the transfer of heat.\u00a0 Students had to complete their lab sheets for 15a and 15b to be checked on Friday.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/khzouza\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2845\/2019\/01\/images.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-188\" src=\"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/khzouza\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2845\/2019\/01\/images.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"599\" height=\"449\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_189\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-189\" style=\"width: 495px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/khzouza\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2845\/2019\/01\/images.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-189\" src=\"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/khzouza\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2845\/2019\/01\/EndothermicExothermicTemperatureriseTemperaturedrop-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"495\" height=\"371\" srcset=\"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/khzouza\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2845\/2019\/01\/EndothermicExothermicTemperatureriseTemperaturedrop-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/khzouza\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2845\/2019\/01\/EndothermicExothermicTemperatureriseTemperaturedrop-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/khzouza\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2845\/2019\/01\/EndothermicExothermicTemperatureriseTemperaturedrop-400x300.jpg 400w, https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/khzouza\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2845\/2019\/01\/EndothermicExothermicTemperatureriseTemperaturedrop.jpg 960w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 495px) 100vw, 495px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-189\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">Friday-We spent the whole day going back and checking, proofreading, and fixing our Law of Conservation CER papers that we worked on before break.\u00a0 I expressed to students that they did not take advantage of their resources given to them and the papers were unexceptionable and needed to be fixed.\u00a0 I spent time in class showing examples of good papers and papers that were not good and need to be improved.\u00a0 I have provided students with a rubric.\u00a0 The changes to their paper is to be done for homework and is due Monday of next week.\u00a0 No exceptions for late work, especially on this assignment that we have spent 2 weeks on.<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Things to remember:<\/p>\n<p>Friday January 18th is a half day.<\/p>\n<p>Monday January 21st no school.<\/p>\n<p>Tuesday-Wednesday January 22-23 is a half day.<\/p>\n<p>Thursday-Friday January 24-25th Science NWEA.\u00a0 Please make sure students understand the importance of this test!\u00a0 Students need to take the test seriously and read each question carefully.\u00a0 This is not a free period to nap or sit there and not take the test.\u00a0 Once the testing window closes for NWEA students will not be given extra time therefore they need to use their time wisely.\u00a0 Make sure students get a good night sleep and a healthy breakfast to get the brain going.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Welcome back!
