target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/www.storylineonline.net<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Developed by The Screen Actors Guild Foundation, Storyline Online features accomplished actors and actresses reading some of their favorite children\u2019s books.\u00a0 Each story comes with a free Activity Guide and can be viewed on YouTube or SchoolTube.\u00a0 <i>Rainbow Fish<\/i>, <i>Wilfrid Gordon Macdonald Partridge<\/i>, and <i>To Be a Drum<\/i> are just a few of the books available.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><b>Read to Me<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/readtomelv.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/readtomelv.com<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Similar to Storyline Online, Read to Me features popular children\u2019s books being read by famous performers.\u00a0 There are activity guides with hands-on ideas, discussion questions, and lesson plans that can easily be adapted to the Common Core State Standards.\u00a0 Entirely free, the site is colorful and engaging.<\/p>\n<p><b>We Give Books<\/b><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wegivebooks.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/wegivebooks.org<\/a><\/p>\n<p>A Pearson Foundation Initiative, We Give Books offers students a unique opportunity to read for social good.\u00a0 Each book that is read results in a book that is donated to a charity for children.\u00a0 While the books are not read aloud, they allow students to practice \u201cRead to Self\u201d with a good fit book during center time.\u00a0 There are books for children in preschool through fourth grade.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Starfall<\/b><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/starfall.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/starfall.com<\/a><\/p>\n<p>While some areas of Starfall are part of their premium service, they have many early reader stories available for free.\u00a0 Students can follow along as the story is read to them and can, in some instances, help create their own story.\u00a0 The website is highly engaging and a favorite of young readers.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Online Storytime by Barnes and Noble<\/b><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.barnesandnoble.com\/u\/online-storytime-books-toys\/379003588\/\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/www.barnesandnoble.com\/u\/online-storytime-books-toys\/379003588\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>From <i>The Kissing Hand<\/i> read by author Audrey Wood to<i>Pinkalicious<\/i> read by Victoria Kann, Barnes and Noble\u2019s Online Storytime has popular children\u2019s books read out loud.\u00a0 While there are no supplemental materials to accompany the stories, this free site is perfect for \u201cListen to Reading\u201d stations.<\/p>\n<p><i>Note:<\/i>\u00a0 The first story begins right away when the page opens so be sure that your volume is adjusted accordingly before clicking the link.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>TumbleBooks<\/b><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/tumblebooks.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/tumblebooks.com<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tcpclibrary.org\/tumblebooks.htm\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/www.tcpclibrary.org\/tumblebooks.htm<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.portlandlibrary.com\/kidsplace\/tumblebooks.htm\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/www.portlandlibrary.com\/kidsplace\/tumblebooks.htm<\/a><\/p>\n<p>TumbleBooks is a pay-for-use site that traditionally sells licenses to libraries and schools.\u00a0 Many public libraries, such as the Tell City, IN Public Library, offer free access to their TumbleBooks account.\u00a0 Students can follow along as the text is read them to help improve comprehension and fluency.\u00a0 Choose from picture books to chapter books.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.portlandlibrary.com\/kidsplace\/tumblebooks.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Portland Public Library<\/a> also has free access to TumbleBookCloud which gives access to Middle and High School level books.\u00a0 If your school decides to purchase a school license, there is also access to the Common Core Portal that includes lessons and quizzes to accompany the books.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>International Children\u2019s Digital Library<\/b><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/en.childrenslibrary.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/en.childrenslibrary.org<\/a>\/<\/p>\n<p>Discover books from around the world at the International Children\u2019s Digital Library.\u00a0 The free site does not read the books aloud, but students can read them independently during Read to Self or free time.\u00a0 This is a great site for extension activities when learning about different regions of the world and can be used effectively into the middle school grades.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>ABCya!<\/b><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/abcya.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/abcya.com<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Children can listen to short stories read aloud to them as they follow along with the highlighted text.\u00a0 ABCya! has a variety of educational games in addition to the featured stories.\u00a0 Free resources and materials are available for grades K through 5.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Storynory<\/b><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.storynory.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/www.storynory.com<\/a>\/<\/p>\n<p>Storynory features a collection of original, fairytale, and classic children\u2019s audio stories.\u00a0 Students can follow along with the story as it is read to them, as the text is also included on the site.\u00a0 There are also some great features available that give you the option of downloading the audio to your computer, listening to \u201ccatch phrase\u201d explanations, translating text into different languages (especially helpful for your ELL students!), and more.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>National Geographic Young Explorers<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ngexplorer.cengage.com\/ngyoungexplorer\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/ngexplorer.cengage.com\/ngyoungexplorer\/index.html<\/a><\/p>\n<p>National Geographic Young Explorers is a magazine designed specifically for kindergarten and first grade students.\u00a0 Children can listen to the magazine being read to them as they follow along with the highlighted text.\u00a0 It is a great way to bring interesting non-fiction stories into reading center time.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Oxford Owl<\/b><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.oxfordowl.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/www.oxfordowl.co.uk<\/a>\/<\/p>\n<p>After registering for a free account, you have access to over 250 children\u2019s audio books that can be used in the classroom.\u00a0 The book text is not part of the presentation, so students will not be able to follow along as it is read to
