{"id":4748,"date":"2017-10-16T01:18:26","date_gmt":"2017-10-16T05:18:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/keebler\/?p=4748"},"modified":"2017-10-16T01:20:53","modified_gmt":"2017-10-16T05:20:53","slug":"class-news-93","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/keebler\/2017\/10\/16\/class-news-93\/","title":{"rendered":"Class News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Star of the Week<\/strong> &#8211; Gabriel<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fire House Trip &#8211; Thursday 10\/19 &#8211; Chaperones<\/strong> &#8211; Please let me know if you are planning on coming to our trip on Thursday.\u00a0 You MUST have taken care of your chaperone paper work in the office if you plan on going.\u00a0 This takes several days to process, so it may be too late if you have done it already.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Late Start Wednesday 10\/18<\/strong>\u00a0 &#8211; school starts at 9:35<\/p>\n<p><strong>Picture Day Friday 10\/20<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Conferences<\/strong> &#8211; There were 3 people that never signed up for conferences in November.\u00a0 I have assigned you times.\u00a0 I will be sending out reminder slips the week of conferences in case you don&#8217;t remember your time.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Word Study Spelling Activity<\/strong> &#8211; I have opened up the Word Study Spelling activity this week.\u00a0 Students may try it at home if they would like.\u00a0 I have given an example for the word flood.\u00a0 I will explain it more on Monday if they don&#8217;t understand.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Book Orders<\/strong> &#8211; I have decided to extend the book order deadline until Monday.\u00a0 Remember ordering books helps our classroom get new books.\u00a0 You may order online or send in your orders by Monday morning.\u00a0 Remember CASH ONLY or check made directly to Scholastic.<\/p>\n<p>To order online, go to the Web address below and enter our class\u2019s personalized user name and password:<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.scholastic.com\/parentordering\">www.scholastic.com\/parentordering<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Our class activation code is: <b>J6YNP<\/b><\/p>\n<p><strong>Book-it<\/strong> &#8211; I keep forgetting to send home the book it calendars.\u00a0 I will send these home on Monday.\u00a0 Please color in all the days you read during the month so far.\u00a0 Book it Calendars will be returned at the end of the month for a Pizza Hut Free Pizza Coupon.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Halloween Party<\/strong> &#8211; there will be a Halloween party in the gym on 10\/31.\u00a0 More details to follow.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Science<\/strong> this week we are working on friction.\u00a0 The mystery is called How could you go faster down a slide?\u00a0 We are working with different materials to determine which have the least and greatest friction.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Social Studies<\/strong> this week we are moving\u00a0 from Land forms to Water forms.\u00a0 We will also be discussing how the Great Lakes were formed.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Math<\/strong> &#8211; We have started unit 2 &#8211; we will be working on the following standards in Math:<\/p>\n<p>3.OA.8 Solve two-step word problems using the four operations. Represent these problems using equations with a letter standing for the unknown quantity. Assess the reasonableness of answers using mental computation and estimation strategies including rounding.<\/p>\n<p>3.OA.9 Identify arithmetic patterns (including patterns in the addition table or multiplication table), and explain them using properties of operations.
