{"id":3771,"date":"2015-10-11T19:04:21","date_gmt":"2015-10-11T23:04:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/keebler\/?p=3771"},"modified":"2015-10-11T19:04:21","modified_gmt":"2015-10-11T23:04:21","slug":"a-peek-at-the-week-13","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/keebler\/2015\/10\/11\/a-peek-at-the-week-13\/","title":{"rendered":"A Peek at the Week"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Star of the\u00a0 Week &#8211; Maya<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Field trip &#8211; Our field trip to the Green Living Science Recycling Center is this Wednesday, 10\/14\/15 &#8211;<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Our bus is scheduled to arrive between 9:15 and 9:30.\u00a0 <strong>Chaperons please check in with the office and get a visitors pass then check in with your teacher so that she knows that you have arrived.<\/strong>\u00a0 Then please wait in the cafeteria.\u00a0 <strong>There is a Tornado Drill scheduled for 9:15 AM<\/strong>.\u00a0 My hope is the bus will arrive early and we can leave before the drill.\u00a0 If not we will need to wait until it is over to leave.\u00a0 Remember if you do not have your ICHAT form in the office you will not be allowed to attend this trip.<\/p>\n<div>Please be aware of the following details:<\/div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>Plan for 3 hours.<\/li>\n<li>The address is <b>1331 Holden Street, Detroit 48202<\/b>.<\/li>\n<li><b>Dress for the weather!<\/b>\u00a0The majority of the field trip is outside so wear appropriate shoes and clothing.<\/li>\n<li><b>Rain Policy<\/b>: We will hold field trips during slight rains but will \u00a0adapt field trips if storming or heavy rain.\u00a0 If extreme weather conditions we will cancel the field trip for the safety of the children.<\/li>\n<li><b>Bring a sack lunch!<\/b><\/li>\n<li><strong>Wear your Howe School tshirt or another red shirt.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Porta potty restrooms are available for use while visiting our facility. (So you might want to use the restroom before we leave the school.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>Keebler Cash<\/strong> -The students have been starting to track their Keebler Cash.\u00a0 Each week they will be paid for completing all of their work in &#8220;Keebler Cash&#8221;.\u00a0 They will get $25 for each week.\u00a0 They will loose $5 for each missing assignment.\u00a0 They will earn $5 for 100% on a spelling test or getting a gem for good behavior.\u00a0 At the end of the marking period we will have a party to celebrate all our good work.\u00a0 The students can all bring in old or unwanted toys from home.\u00a0 They can sell them to each other for their &#8220;Keebler cash they earned.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Missing assignments<\/strong> &#8211; all previous missing assignments are due by Friday 10\/16\/15.\u00a0 If they are not turned in by Friday they will get a 0.\u00a0 From now on all missing assignment from the previous week are due by the following Monday or they will get a 0.\u00a0 The zero assignment scores will be lowering the report card grades.\u00a0 Please help your child keep up with missing assignments by watching y<strong>our Parent Connect.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Book Bags should start this week<\/strong> &#8211; Mrs. Auon will be our book bag mom.\u00a0 She will be coming in on Tuesdays to switch out the book bags for new books.\u00a0 Please use these books to help complete the reading logs.\u00a0 Reading logs will be due on Mondays with the book bags.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3rd Grade Math test-\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0 will be on Thursday, October 15, 2015.\u00a0 A study guide went home last Thursday.\u00a0 Below is a copy of the study guide in case your student didn&#8217;t show it to you.\u00a0\u00a0 Completed study guides are due on Monday, 10\/12\/15.\u00a0 Unit 1 covers the following standards:<\/p>\n<p>3.MD.1\u00a0 Tell and write time to the nearest minute and measure time intervals in minutes. Solve word problems involving addition and subtraction of time intervals in minutes, e.g., by representing the problem on a number line diagram.<\/p>\n<p>3.MD.3 Draw a scaled picture graph and a scaled bar graph to represent a data set with several categories. Solve one- and two-step &#8220;how many more&#8221; and &#8220;how many less&#8221; problems using information presented in scaled bar graphs.
