1\/2 Gallon jugs NEEDED<\/strong> –<\/h2>\n

We will be doing some planting next month.\u00a0 Each student needs to bring in a\u00a0 CLEAN 1\/2 gallon plastic milk or juice jug with a handle.\u00a0 We need these by April 2nd.<\/p>\n

Field Trip 3\/31<\/strong>–<\/h2>\n

Permission slip will be going home soon for field trip 3\/31 to the Cranbrook Institute of Science. Chaperones are needed.<\/p>\n

Study Island Contest This Week<\/strong><\/h2>\n

–<\/strong> Ready…Set…Sprint! <\/strong>We are going to inspire a little friendly competition while boosting our students’ standards mastery this spring. The Edmentum Academic Sprints, featuring Study Island challenges our students to earn Blue Ribbons from March 9 \u2013 March 15, 2015<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The top performing school in each grade span (elementary, middle, and high) that earns the highest number of Blue Ribbons per student will win a $1,000 Edmentum credit!<\/strong><\/p>\n

The top student in each grade span (elementary, middle, and high) who earns the highest number of Blue Ribbons will win a $100 Amazon.com gift card!\u00a0\u00a0 Winners will be determined from a compiled list of total contest entrants from both weeks.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Missing Assignments<\/strong> –<\/h2>\n

This marking period has been much better than the last one for missing assignments.\u00a0 However, as we get closer to the end of the marking period the numbers are getting higher.\u00a0\u00a0 PLEASE check your child’s Parent Connect and assists them in making sure they complete their missing assignments.\u00a0 Most papers are now attached to the Lesson Plans.\u00a0\u00a0 Also there is a new feature on Parent Connect that lets me attach the assignment right to Parent Connect.\u00a0 I have attached a few so far, and I will start attaching more in the future.\u00a0 This will make it much easier for parents to find and print assignments.\u00a0 The following students have 4 or more assignments missing: 1, 4, 7, 12, 14, 16, 17 in Keebler’s class and 12 and 17 in Polster’s class.<\/strong><\/p>\n

End of Marking Period is coming soon<\/strong> –<\/h2>\n

Please have all uncompleted work or redo finished by next Friday, March 13th.<\/p>\n

March is Reading Month Activities this week –<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Monday – If I were a tree essay contest due, pick a genre for door decorating<\/p>\n

Tuesday – Volunteer to be a video reader – Students can sign up to read their favorite book on video<\/p>\n

Wednesday – Poetry Day – Read or write a poem.<\/p>\n

Thursday – DEAR Reading for 20 Minutes<\/p>\n

Friday – Come to school dressed as your favorite storybook character.<\/p>\n

Math Fact Boot Camp –<\/strong><\/h2>\n

In 3rd grade math,we will be starting Math Fact Boot Camp this week.\u00a0 We will spend 15 minutes of each day working on our math facts.\u00a0 The kids will get a prize each time the pass a test.\u00a0 They should continue to practice at home and will progress faster if they do.<\/p>\n
