Last week we read a story about  Martin Luther King jr. We made a T chart and wrote who he was on one side and what he did on the other side. Students came up with good examples for both sides. We then used the T chart to write a letter to him of what we would tell him if he were alive. Then we used a Venn diagram to compare and contrast a blue and green M & M. We then wrote how we as humans are the same on the inside and different on the outside, just like an M&M. After the boys and girls were treated differently by me, they used adjectives to describe how it feels to be treated unfairly ( afterwards, of course, both groups got what the other group got so that it would be fair). Please take a moment tomorrow to talk with your child about the significant impact he had with civil rights in this country.  <\/p>\n
