Sit with them and discuss a schedule. Ask them when they’d like to meet their time quota for those two items. After Breakfast, after lunch, or after dinner? etc… Then make that part of their daily routine. Same for spelling, writing, and the science and social studies, or reading from scholastic, epic books, or book bags . They are not expected to do everything at once or everyday (aside from Zearn and iready). I realize that may be difficult. So if you schedule the others for twice a week, then set a time and day for which two or three you want to add to those two days and stay consistent with it so it becomes a true routine and you won’t have to keep on them. Especially if you let them know those things are a must do and there will be consequences it they don’t follow through.I am able to see how much time students are spending on Zearn and iready and there are a decent number who are not getting there minutes in. It is important that they get on there and exercise their brain. I have found personally when my girls were young and lived at home, and as a teacher, routines make progress happen, and keep things running more smooth.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
If you are having trouble motivating your child to spend 15-20 minutes each day on both Zearn and iready try creating a routine.
