Woo hoo!   The count down is beginning!  Just a few reminders…

*There is a late start this Wed.  School will begin at 9:35.

*Our concert is this Wed.  Please have the students report to our class at 5:30.  The concert begins at 6:00.

*Our school sing along will be this Friday at 2:30.  Parents are welcome to join us.

*This Friday we will have pajama day!  (The rest of the school is doing ugly sweater day, but it is more fun to come to school in your jammies!)  We will decorate cookies and play some games in the afternoon.

This week in…

LA, we will be focusing on creating a new Gingerbread story.  We will also be making gingerbread ornaments!  We will be working on contractions and editing too!  Our spelling pattern for the week is     -ch words.  We will have a spelling test on Friday.

Math, we will be having a test on our measurement unit on Wed.  The study guide will be coming home on Mon.  I took out questions 6-10 from the study guide because it wanted the students to measure with cubes and dominoes and I wasn’t sure who had these supplies at home.  In any case, we have been measuring a lot with these materials in class!

Science, we are working on non-fiction books about the seasons.\

Have a wonderful break with your children!  Merry Christmas to all of the families celebrating!  May you enjoy the joys of the season!

Week of 12/7

Week of 12/7

My home computer is acting up, but I think I got it fixed for a bit so here goes!

We went to the Holiday Shop this morning.  If you still want your child to shop, please send money in an envelope labeled Holiday Shop and they will get an opportunity to shop.

A field trip form was sent today.  Please send it back to school by Dec. 18.  We had to pre pay for this trip even though it is in MAY, so thank you for your understanding.  There are not refunds for this trip and we do have a limited amount of chaperones.  I can only take four chaperones with me,  so I will only accept the money from the first four parents that send it in.

This Friday, the spirit day colors are green and red!

This week in…

Language Arts, we are writing a How to Make Hot Chocolate.  We will even test it out and see how specific the students are in their writing.  We are working on suffixes -ed and -ing, nouns, verbs and adjectives, and character traits.

Math, we are working on measurement.  We will be measuring with non standard units like cubes and dominoes and then standard units like the ruler.

Science, we are focusing on weather instruments, the water cycle and types of clouds.

Have a great week!
