Tuesday, March 31- Wear Your Teacher’s Favorite Color Day- my favorite colors are pink and black!!!
Wednesday, April 1- Wear Your Favorite Sports Team Apparel Day
Thursday, April 2- Crazy Hair Day

There will be ONE Spirit Award given to the class with the highest percentage of participation.

Our PBIS Reward Party for March will be on Thursday, April 2, from 2:45-3:15pm. Weather permitting it will be RECESS for ALL!

Looking forward to a fun filled and SPIRITED WEEK!

Week of March 23

Week of March 23

A few reminders…

Today the students with orders shopped at the Book Fair.  The Book Fair will be open tonight also during Family Literacy Night from 5-6.

All field trip notes are due this Thursday.  I will be paying for the trip that day, so we can not take any late payments.

I have enjoyed listening to our student mystery readers this month!  Please look for a note being sent home today about parent/grandparent etc.. mystery readers.  Shhhh- it’s a secret!  Please don’t tell your child when you are coming to read.

This week in…

Language Arts, we are focusing on the -en family.  We will be doing some informational writing on our community and some of the places in the community.  Our focus during Daily 5 will be text to self connections, vowels  and plural nouns.

Math, we are focusing on missing addends,

(For example…3 + ____= 10) two dice subtraction using the larger number first and domino addition.

Science, we are discussing plants and their needs.  We planted grass seed last week- please let it grow!

Social Studies, we are beginning to wrap up communities.  If you have anyone who is willing to talk to the class about their profession, please let me know.

Have a great week!

Week of March 9

Week of March 9

Woo hoo!  It is warming up outside!  The students will be able to run and jump and let out some energy!

Thank you to the parents who attended the Kindergarten parent meeting last week.  We hope you are better aware of the expectations for the remainder of Kindergarten.

Just a reminder that there is a late start this Wednesday.  School will begin at 9:35.

This week in…

Language Arts, we are focusing on Opinion writing.  The students will be selecting their favorite super power and writing why it is the best.  We are focusing on the -un family for spelling and the sh- blend.  Our mini lessons will entail the retelling of The Hat by Jan Brett, sequencing, vowels, and handwriting.

Science, we are still “rockin'” the Earth.  This week we will discuss where rocks come from and dig into the soil to see what it contains.

Social Studies, we are beginning our research on the community project.  Ask your child what part of the community there are- bakery, police, school or grocery.

Math, our mini lessons will focus on nickels, tally marks, penny game, and domino addition.

Have a wonderful week!
