A few things……

A few things……

Just a reminder…we will be singing a couple Thanksgiving songs today in the gym at 3:15.

I will not be sending official homework this break. However, I have given new books to practice to all of the students that gave me their reading bag today (regardless of what day they are usually seen).

Thank you to everyone who came for conferences.  I love when we can work as a team and help benefit your child’s educational and developmental needs!  As always, if you have thought of any questions after conferences, please come and see me!

It is going to be December when we arrive back from break! We will be going to the Holiday Shop on Dec. 9 in the morning.  Here is some info about the shop from the PTA:   Holiday Shop is coming to Snow School December 9th, 10th & 11th!  Each class will have an opportunity to shop and pick out gifts for their family members.  Notes and budget envelopes will be coming home.  Classroom specific shopping times will be coming home next week!  Please consider volunteering 30 minutes to help your child’s class shop.

We do not have school from Nov. 26-Nov. Nov. 30!  Hopefully this will give the flu bug time to leave our class and leave us alone!

I am thankful for such a wonderful group of students and parents!  Thank you for all of your support and help so far this year.  Enjoy this time with your kids and families!  Happy Thanksgiving!

Updates and info…..

Updates and info…..

I have a lot of things that I wanted to share with you!

On Tuesday, November 25, the students will have a short presentation for the parents/guardians in the gym.  We hope you can join us.  Please make sure you sign in at the office prior to entering the gym (this may take some time, so you will want to come a little earlier than 3:15).

Yesterday, every student was sent with an Everyday Math account card and information sheet.  Please make sure your child has opportunities at home to work on this site.  We do a lot of games/activities on here for class, so I know the students will love to do it at home too!

The weather is getting frightful!  We will stay inside if the wind chill is below 20 degress.  However…we do go outside even if it is a snowy day!  Children are welcomed to bring snowpants and boots to play in the snow.  If they do not bring these things to school, the child will be on blacktop only.  I am encouraging students to bring slippers to school ASAP since a lot of students are coming to school with wet sneakers and then our carpet is getting wet.  (No one wants to sit on a wet carpet spot!)  Please practice zipping with your child.  It will take us a while to get ready with all of the “equipment” to get on!

Our library day is Monday.  All library books are due that day.  I do not go through backpacks looking for late books.

Just a reminder…our last day of school before Thanksgiving break will be Tues. Nov 25.  Have a wonderful, family filled Thanksgiving!

A few reminders….

A few reminders….

This Wednesday is a late start.  School will begin at 9:35.

This Thursday, we are celebrating our 50th day of school.  We are encouraging the students to dress in 50’s attire.  Please do not go out and buy anything.  A note of suggestions for the day was sent home today.

On Friday, Dr. Groover will be reading in the lobby in her jammies. Here is a blurb she wanted to share:

Read Your Heart Out,
Dr. Groover!
Our Principal has cleared her calendar to share her love for reading on
Friday, November 14.
She will be in our school lobby wearing her pajamas and reading all day long, as part of the Read Your Heart Out Principal Challenge. The Pizza Hut BOOK IT! Program has challenged all principals to read from bell to bell to celebrate National Young Readers Week (November 10-14). This is an annual event co-founded by Pizza Hut and the Center for the Book in the Library of Congress.  One lucky elementary school principal will win 101 copies of the ninth book in the Wimpy Kid series,Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul .  Jeff Kinney, author of the Wimpy Kid books, will personally autograph one of the books for the winning principal who read their heart out.
Bring in a jar of PEANUT BUTTER(24oz. or less) to join Dr. Groover in wearingPAJAMAS during this fun celebration of reading! All proceeds will be donated to Blessings in a Backpack-Dearborn.
PICTURE RETAKES are also scheduled for this Friday morning. If the kids needing retakes want to participate, they will be able to change into their pajamas right after their pictures are taken!

It will be an exciting week in the Kindergarten!

Weeks of Nov. 2nd and 9th

Weeks of Nov. 2nd and 9th

The weather is getting chilly!  We are still going outside everyday so please make sure your child is bundled up!

We have a half day of school on Nov. 7.  The students will be released at 11:45.

I have sent a behavior calendar in the folder.  You will be able to see what color your child ended the day with daily.  Remember, we are trying to “Go Green”!  The students who have all green for the month of November will get a chance to eat lunch in the classroom at the end of the month with me!

We are busy, busy, busy in class!  Over the next two weeks, in…

Language Arts, we will be focusing on informational writing.  We will be creating a book of non-fiction animal facts.  We are still focusing on the beginning sounds of words and concentrating on the letters G and H.  I am very proud of the many students who are practicing their sight words and coloring their rainbows in class.  All of the students have received reading bags.  Please make sure your child returns his/her reading bag on the correct day.

Math, we are focusing on addition, measurement, the Monster Squeeze game, and number books.  I will be sending the code for the Everyday Math games online next week.  we will be teaming up with Mrs. Slater’s class to play “Top It” this week (this is just like old fashioned “war”, but we can’t call it that anymore).  It’s a great game to play as a family!

I will be sending conference reminders this week.  Please make sure you are on time for your conference.  This will keep me on schedule too!

Have a wonderful couple weeks!
