Week of May 26

Week of May 26

There seems to be a lot happening in the next few weeks…

We are still collecting items for our Grade level basket for the school picnic.  Our theme is Family Fun!  The school picnic is this week Friday from 5-8.  A green note was sent home last week in case anyone wanted to pre-order tickets instead of waiting in line to day of the event.

This is the last week the students will be changing leveled books and library books.  I am working on testing all the students and their reading levels too!

It is getting warm in the class and our air has not been turned on yet.  I am encouraging every student to bring a water bottle to school everyday!  I will only allow water to be consumed- not gatorade, kool aid etc…

This week in…

Spelling, we are focusing on the -ub family.

Math, we are focusing on time and missing number story problems.

Writing, we are creating a Lego figure and using adjectives to describe it!

Science, we are still focusing on living things.

Reading, we are preparing a Reader’s theater.

A parent asked about graduation.  We do not have a graduation for our Kindergarteners since it is not our belief, but we will be having our class picnic and presentation on Tuesday June 10 in the afternoon.  More details will follow!

Have a great week!

For this year’s Snow Picnic, our Kindergarten basket theme is Family Fun!  If you would like to donate items for our basket, please send them in by Tuesday may 27.  We suggest any items that can be used and enjoyed by Snow Families.  Items can include, but are not limited to:  gift cards, games, cards, chalk, movies, snacks, frisbees, toys etc….  All donations can be brought to the classroom so they can be wrapped in a BIG basket! Thank you in advance!

Week of April 28

Week of April 28

Welcome back everyone!

It took us a few days, but we are back in the swing of things!

This week in…

Language Arts, we are working on our non-fiction books about our animals for the Talking Zoo!  Our spelling family this week is the -ot family.

Math, we are focusing on subtraction and money again.  This month, the students will earn a nickel for every green day.

Science, we are trying to grow plants again…I really do not have a green thumb so we will see what happens!  We will be focusing on the parts of plants and what they do also.  We are also discussing living things.  I hope you saw the invitation for our Talking Zoo next Tuesday at 3:00.

Handwriting, we are focusing on the capital letters.  I am asking for your help with the handwriting homework.  I have been checking the homework for a few days and the students are not choosing to do quality work and forming the letters incorrectly.  Please sit next to your child during this time so we can create good habits.  Thanks!

Tomorrow the students who earned 13/16 green days for the month of April will be attending the PBIS party.  The party will be the 5th grade mall!

Stay warm…it is May right?!
