Brrrr! It is very cold outside. Please make sure your child is dressed for the weather! Also, please send your child with a change of shoes or slippers if he/she wears boots to school. Snow boots are too hot to wear throughout the day and they make our carpet wet!
This week we have started spelling! You will notice that the spelling list says week 20. Although we are just in week one, the rest of the district (Grades 1-5 are on week 20, so this helps keep us on track) The test will be on Friday with a total of 10 words. Please read the note that was sent last week about the procedure for the spelling test. The words this week are: the, and you, hat, fat, rat.
We have a lot of students that are passing all of the rainbow lists. It is important to practice the rainbow list words every night. This will also help in reading the leveled books!
I have sent home a book order. If you would like to order, please send your order and money in an envelope by Friday.
The students who completed their winter packet over Christmas break received a certificate for the school store. The school store is open before school 8:20-8:35 and after school until 3:45 on Tuesday and Thursday.
This week, we are beginning informational writing. We will be making books about penguins. We are in need of some empty toilet paper rolls for a project that correlates with the writing. Please send some in if you have them
It is the time of year that students are in need of some supplies. All of the students need a new box of 24 crayons. I would appreciate it if this can be sent ASAP.
Just a reminder…the 100th day of school will be on Feb. 14 (even though we have had some snow days to change the real date, we are still celebrating on the 14th). We will be dressing like we are 100 years old. You can spray your child’s hair gray, put it up in a bun, and get the cardigan sweaters ready! we will have a Valentine’s exchange that day too! I will send the class list this week so your child can write out the names on the cards.
Have a wonderful week!
