Mack avenue is home to Detroit’s first whole foods market. Prices may seem quite high but your getting organic, un-modified food. Naturally fed animals, farm raised chickens, and everything you would find in a local grocery store, you’d find it at the whole foods market . The only difference is the choice of healthy and organic foods.

When asked why most people chose to switch from their local grocery store many said it was because of the “healthy options.” Their is an open food bar of all ready made organic choices. The options that are available include vegetarian lasagna, macaroni and cheese made with organic ingredients from right there in the store, baked chicken, and many more options. You are free to sample anything before you purchase.

You are allowed to fill a container with what you want for $6.49 a pound. There is also a smoothie bar that offers fresh and organic smoothie samples. Some of their smoothies are ginger power, kale kick start, moto monkey, ready set revive, the sparky bunny, fruit fusion, and vitapop. All the fruit, vegetables, and juices used in the drinks are from the store itself.

Whole Foods Slideshow

Eating healthy had to be postponed for a while in Detroit, until the whole foods market was opened.
