How much time do you really spend with your family and friends? These days most people are on the internet way too much. People would rather spend time online than with friends and family in the real world. The internet takes people to a fantasy world and people prefer that world rather than the real world. This generation is always on social media they don\u2019t realize what\u2019s happening in their surroundings. Do you really make enough time for the closest people to you?<\/p>\n

We see
\ninternet addicts everyday. The closest people we know or even us are addicted to the internet.\u00a0 \u00a0Cassondra an internet friend, said \u201cthe internet has impacted me in a positive way because of the friends I made because of it.\u201d These days the internet is just a way of life and not just for entertainment. This generation feels like we truly could not live without wifi and whether we accept it or not, truth is we are all being affected. Most of us don\u2019t realize how the internet is affecting us and others around us, as one of my friends, Grace Levine, \u00a0said \u201cit doesn\u2019t effect anyone really.\u201d The internet is causing us to procrastinate and we may think that we are too busy for other stuff. Internet addiction causes people to become isolated and this may cause problems like depression.<\/span><\/p>\n

Today there are so many people that entertain us like Youtubers. As YouTuber, Sarah also known as Makeup Insomniac said, \u201cI think the internet is addictive because we don\u2019t want to miss out on new things. I know that\u2019s what keeps me refreshing twitter or looking up new YouTube videos. I don\u2019t want to miss out on new information, or the opinions of people I look up to.\u201d We are constantly checking social media to make sure we are up to date with everything and not missing out.<\/p>\n

How does social media affect the people around us? We might think that our family members and friends feel the same way about social media as we do, but that’s not always true. Grace\u2019s mom, Ms. Levine, was asked on her opinions on the internet taking over people’s lives and she responded with \u201cI don’t like it, it’s a waste of time.\u201d Cassondra\u2019s brother, Timothy, was asked the same thing and he said \u201cit’s their choice, but I think that people shouldn’t spend all their time online and let it take over their lives.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The internet is taking over humanity and most of us don’t even realize it. The internet may have some positive effects on us, but it is up to us whether to make the internet influence our lives in a positive or negative way. We must balance our time and make sure we spend enough time with our family and friends. So let’s not depend on the internet anymore and let’s spend more time with the people we care about.<\/span><\/p>\n
