Israel has been bombing and controlling countries in the Middle East in recent years. Lebanon and Palestine have been their top targets. People all over the world have seen many videos and pictures of what the Israeli soldiers damage.. There have been 3,000 people killed and more than 13,000 wounded. United States companies such as Starbucks, McDonald’s, Louis Vuitton, and Nestlé have been sending millions and millions of dollars to support Israel’s bombing. This has caused a boycott of many American companies.

The reason for their bombing is that they want to take over Lebanon and Palestine’s land. According to Laya Swaidan, an 8th grader noted, “ It’s very hurtful to see what they were doing to Palestine and Lebanon, and seeing how they are suffering on both sides is traumatizing to hear.” They took 10 percent of the land from Lebanon and 1/3 percent of the land from Palestine. Many people are suffering.

Innocent families and kids are being hurt for no reason. Waffaa Jaafar, a Dearborn resident, claims, “ It was very sad when I heard about what’s going on in Lebanon and Palestine because I was born in Lebanon, and I lost many cousins and my childhood home. It’s so sad how people are losing their family members from all of this and losing their homes, having no food or water to eat or drink. “

After all this damage that Israel has done to Palestine and Lebanon, it will take a lot of time to repair. Laya Swaidan mentioned, “I believe that it might take 3 or more years to fix all of the damage.” Wafaa Jaafar also stated, “It’s gonna take years for them to fix everything that they damaged.” Because these countries don’t have much money to repair things quickly enough for people to live normally again, civilians need to live a horrible life with no food, homes, or education. Israel is continuously bombing the Middle East every 10 years. Israel wanted to take all of Hezbollah’s guns and bombs. Anything that they could use to hurt the people in Israel.

The president of Israel’s plan was to kill Sayed Hassan Nasrallah, who was the leader of Lebanon. He was a great leader, and he wanted to help all the other Middle Eastern countries because he was a thoughtful man. Hassan Nasrallah was a Lebanese cleric and politician who served as the third secretary-general of Hezbollah, a Shia Islamist political party and militia, from 1992 until his assassination in 2024.

In October 2023, Israel conducted airstrikes in Beirut, Lebanon. Laya Swaidan claims that Sayed Hassan Nasrallah’s death was very disappointing. What if that had happened to the leader of Israel? They would feel heartbroken about Sayed Hassan Nasrallah’s death. Jenna Shaikzany replied, “This is the 2nd time I saw my dad cry. The whole community is mourning his loss.”

Hezbollah and Lebanese authorities later confirmed his death, and his body was later found under rubble. When the armies found out that Nasrallah was dead, they all went on an airstrike against Israel. Wafaa Jaafar mentioned that when she heard about his death, it was very sad, and when he left Lebanon, it was done. ” Lebanon will not be the same because he is gone. It’s so sad to hear all of this.”

In conclusion, I think that what happened in the Middle East with Israel shouldn’t have happened because no one deserves this. Not only did we lose Hassan Nasrallah, a very good man whom we loved a lot, but many others are gone, too. The people in Israel are also losing family and friends. As we all pray for a peaceful solution, I am hoping no more innocent lives will be lost.

By: Neriman Zughayar

Israel and the Middle East have been fighting for over a century.
