{"id":2339,"date":"2019-05-21T13:37:41","date_gmt":"2019-05-21T17:37:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/journalism\/?p=2339"},"modified":"2019-05-21T13:37:41","modified_gmt":"2019-05-21T17:37:41","slug":"a-war-journey","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/journalism\/2019\/05\/21\/a-war-journey\/","title":{"rendered":"A War Journey"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Getting the letter that you have been chosen to join the military is one of the saddest moments that can happen to you and your family <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In 1980 in the middle of your country\u2019s war is the scariest moment. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">My father told me the only thing he remembers is when he first got recruited was his mother&#8217;s tears down her face. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It&#8217;s hard for me to even imagine how a family can go through that. It&#8217;s sad to know that my father had to go through this pain with his family.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cIt has been 2 hours since the battle started. I was walking the entire time hoping I don\u2019t get hurt. I felt a burst of pain in my lower back.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> My father was about 23 at the time, younger than my brother is right now, but instead of my brother fighting for his life, he\u2019s in medical school. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I asked my dad how many years were you in, the army for, three years he responded. \u201cBy the third year, I had been shot during battle.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI was injured in my lower back and was airlifted to a hospital nearby he told me\u201d. I then asked my dad what his thoughts were when it happened. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI thought I would never see my mother and siblings again and I couldn&#8217;t be a loss to her after my father recent passing.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">My dad took almost six months to fully recover.
