Many families were hurt and many got through it. They don\u2019t really live as near as the area where the earthquake hit, but that doesn\u2019t mean they didn&#8217;t experience anything. \u201cWhen it first hit, I was scared, I was worried, that was the first thing I thought, I hoped nobody was hurt and I was concerned.\u201d Mrs.Ballout added.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThe epicenter of the 7.1-magnitude earthquake was 2.8 miles (4.5 kilometers) east-northeast of San Juan Raboso and 34.1 miles (55 km) south-southwest of the city of Puebla.\u201d The earthquake directly hit and shook, Mexico City. It left more than 225 people dead, 38 collapsed structured buildings. Mainly, apartment buildings. A lot of schools were also hurt in the process. Some schools collapsed with students in them. Other sources announced people like children still missing. \u201c<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One week after a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2017\/09\/08\/americas\/earthquake-hits-off-the-coast-of-southern-mexico\/index.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">magnitude-8.1 earthquake struck off the southern coast<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of the country, killing at least 90, according to the governor of the hard-hit state of Oaxaca.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/journalism\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/929\/2017\/11\/Screenshot-2017-11-26-at-8.12.15-PM.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-2049 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/journalism\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/929\/2017\/11\/Screenshot-2017-11-26-at-8.12.15-PM-274x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"156\" height=\"171\" srcset=\"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/journalism\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/929\/2017\/11\/Screenshot-2017-11-26-at-8.12.15-PM-274x300.png 274w, https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/journalism\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/929\/2017\/11\/Screenshot-2017-11-26-at-8.12.15-PM.png 277w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 156px) 100vw, 156px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fatima Aoude a student who also attends Unis Middle School, gives us her thoughts on the tragic earthquake. Although she isn\u2019t from Mexico or have any family that lives there but she has a strong opinion. When asking her what comes to mind when hearing the word earthquake, she responded with ,\u201cI think of all the damage they make and leave affecting everything. I also think of all the deaths and the families left traumatised. I wonder how people go on with their lives after having someone close to them die because of an earthquake.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fatima like many, think that anyone with the ability of helping, should help and donate to charities to help repair as much damage as they could. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The tragic earthquake caused a lot of damage. People like Mrs. Ballouts family, send resources that could definitely help. \u201cWe donate money, we donate cloths and anything that is necessary.\u201d Mrs. Ballout claims. Anyone that wants to help can donate to charities like Direct Relief &amp; Direct Relief Foundation, Doctors Without Borders USA, Partners In Health and mercy corps. After everything the earthquake has caused, Fatima thinks that \u201cPeople should do anything, anything to at least try and make a difference.
