Why is it that only in some middle schools, they have separated gym classes? Elementary and high school have mixed gym classes<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Swimming classes should be separated because of religious reasons or just because you aren\u2019t wearing as much as in a regular gym class<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Many people say, that they don\u2019t see a reason why anything else should be separated.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> I interviewed Omar Nahshal, a Unis Middle School 8th grade student about this issue. \u201cNo, becuase its a silly thing to separate boys and girls in gym classes. I don\u2019t think this is necessary and I don\u2019t know<a href=\"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/journalism\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/929\/2016\/11\/IMG_2049-1-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1163 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/journalism\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/929\/2016\/11\/IMG_2049-1-1-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"img_2049-1\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/journalism\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/929\/2016\/11\/IMG_2049-1-1-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/journalism\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/929\/2016\/11\/IMG_2049-1-1-280x373.jpg 280w, https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/journalism\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/929\/2016\/11\/IMG_2049-1-1.jpg 540w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a> why we can\u2019t play basketball or soccer together.&#8221; So Omar is against separate gym classes. Could middle schools change the separation in gym classes or will this be permanent?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Next I interviewed the boys&#8217; gym teacher at Unis Middle School, Mr. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bazzi. He quoted with, &#8220;I think it would cause some issues with some of the kids, and they would refuse to come to class, or some kids may be uncomfortable with both genders in one class. Not really, it shouldn\u2019t affect any gym teachers with both genders in one gym class.&#8221; Looks like Mr. Bazzi doesn\u2019t have a problem with same gender gym classes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So why do only middle schools have separate gender gym classes? Mohammed said with, \u201cIt makes no sense that high schools and elementary gym classes aren\u2019t separated but middle school gym classes are. What\u2019s so different about middle school than these other grade levels. We could have gym all year together if classes weren\u2019t separated\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In conclusion, the people I interviewed are against and for separated gym classes. Middle school gym classes shouldn\u2019t be separated just because of opposite gender. There\u2019s no reason why we shouldn\u2019t be able to play with both boys and girls.
