Blessings<\/span> in a Backpack<\/span> provides food for elementary school children across America who may otherwise have little or no food to eat on the weekends during the school year.\u00a0 Better test scores, improved reading skills, positive behavior, improved health and increased attendance have all been attributed to the success of this program.\u00a0There are currently five\u00a0Dearborn Public elementary schools\u00a0participating\u00a0in this program – including Whitmore Bolles Elementary.<\/span><\/p>\n

The program could not be successful without the help of volunteers. One great way to volunteer is to help us pack thebackpacks<\/span>! Below are the dates that we need families to volunteer in order to pack the bags after school.\u00a0 All packing occurs at 4:00 p.m. at Christ Episcopal Church, located at Cherry Hill and Military.<\/span><\/p>\n

Wednesday, December 2nd 4:00 p.m.\u00a0<\/i><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

Wednesday, February 3rd 4:00 p.m.<\/i><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

Wednesday, April 6th 4:00 p.m.<\/i><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

Please send an email to Katharine Johnston (johnstk@dearbornschools.org<\/a>) in order to sign up to volunteer.\u00a0 We would like 5-8 volunteers per volunteer date.<\/span><\/p>\n
