{"id":2343,"date":"2019-01-25T10:52:51","date_gmt":"2019-01-25T15:52:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/joachia\/?p=2343"},"modified":"2019-01-25T10:52:51","modified_gmt":"2019-01-25T15:52:51","slug":"report-cards","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/joachia\/2019\/01\/25\/report-cards\/","title":{"rendered":"Report Cards"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2344\" src=\"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/joachia\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/62\/2019\/01\/Owl-report-card.jpg\" alt=\"Owl with report card\" width=\"168\" height=\"158\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Report cards will be coming home on Monday, January 3 for all the third grade classes.<\/p>\n<p>Please make sure that you take time to go through your child&#8217;s work folders and create some goals for your third grader to work on for the next semester.\u00a0 A great way to do this is to ask your child what subject area is the most challenging.\u00a0 Separate the work from your child&#8217;s folder for that subject area.\u00a0 Then, look at the scores on that work.\u00a0 Discuss what strategies\/routines you could start at home to help with gaining confidence and raising achievement in that subject area.\u00a0 Here is a great way to do that&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>Have your child draw or paste a picture of themselves on the middle of a piece of paper. Ask him\/her to write or draw all of the things that they like about that subject around the picture. Then encourage them to think of things they can do that can help them be more successful in that subject.\u00a0 When a scored paper comes home, go over what contributed to that score.\u00a0 Add new strategies or feelings to the picture.\u00a0 Keep it posted in a place that reminds your child about the goal and take time to comment about how they are growing and changing as they work on the goal.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Report cards will be coming home on Monday, January 3 for all the third grade classes.
