As many have been confused about how much online assignments will impact student grades, our district has finally established a Grading Policy for Remote Learning.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>I will be reaching out to you through Remind, Google Classroom &amp; my blog to provide you with more information on weekly student expectations &amp; posting grades. Please read the new high school grading policy carefully.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>High School Grading Criteria COVID-19 School Shutdown<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Students received a grade for marking period 4, which ended March 6th.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There will be <strong>NO<\/strong> 5th marking period grade given.&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There will be <strong>NO<\/strong> 6th marking period progress reports assigned.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Beginning Monday April 20th- 6th marking period:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Students receive feedback on weekly assignments in the form of narrative comments.&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Staff will input grades at least weekly in the gradebook as work is completed.&nbsp; This will be available in parent\/student connect for parents and students to view.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For each class, if a student participates in the learning, he\/she will receive credit.&nbsp; The following will apply:<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Students who do the following will earn the grade of A recorded:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Engage in at least 75% of the remote lessons and hangouts.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Submit and earn a passing grade on at least 75% of the assignments.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Students who do the following will earn the grade of G which awards credit:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Engage in 60-74% of the remote lessons and hangouts.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Submit and earn a passing grade on at least 60-74% of the assignments.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Students who do the following will earn the grade of N which is no credit given:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Engage in less than 60%&nbsp; of the remote lessons and hangouts.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Submit and earn a passing grade on less than 60% of the assignments.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If a student chooses not to participate and cannot be reached despite numerous attempts, the student receives N for no credit.&nbsp; <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The teacher must submit the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/forms\/d\/e\/1FAIpQLSeFjhMlJfUXDZr-VeGPKhEx7eIh54KkLHrR1kZJd1KeArEjfw\/viewform?usp=sf_link\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">credit\/no credit form<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. The principal must approve.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If a student is unable to participate due to family hardship, the student will be excused from work and will receive credit.&nbsp; This evidence will be documented in the building log. Principals must approve credit.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Additional comments that may be used:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Rarely or did not submit work<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Rarely attended remote lessons or check-in sessions<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Family hardship during the time of instruction<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Any student who receives no credit will have to attend summer school for credit recovery.&nbsp; (Students must meet the Michigan Merit Curriculum requirements and earn 23 credits to graduate.)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There will be a district appeal process for a student contesting their 6th marking period grade.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I hope you are all adjusting to our new way of life.
