Hello Everyone,<\/h2>\n

I am posting this reminder regarding the deadlines for the Teacher Evaluation documents. Please remember that it is a joint responsibility of administrators and teachers to complete their portions of the year end evaluations.\u00a0 For your convenience, here is a link to a memorandum that was previously sent out that lists all evaluation recommended timelines.\u00a0 All year end evaluation documents must be submitted to HR by May 10th. https:\/\/humanresources.dearbornschools.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/103\/2013\/09\/Document2.pdf<\/h2>\n

The teacher evaluation committee meeting was held on April 3rd and the members present included.\u00a0Gail Shenkman, Jill Chochol, Wyatt David, Linda Lazar, Rob Seeterlin, Andy Denison, Fatme Faraj, Hassane Jaafar, Chris Sipperley, Nicole Chubb, Scott Guthrie, and Glenn Maleyko.Listed below is important information from the committee.<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

We had a very productive evaluation committee meeting.\u00a0 Here is a summary of what we discussed and the recommendations:<\/div>\n

1.\u00a0\u00a0 We plan to move towards a specific weighted system for subsequent school years. However, we will not implement a specific weighted system for the current year 2013-14. We will take our time and study what other districts are doing. We have the support of the Superintendent, Cabinet and the Evaluation Committee.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

2.\u00a0 Questions have come up about measurements not being available. Starting last year when the timeline on evaluation deadlines was distributed, I specifically emphasized and communicated that measures should be selected where data is available. Choosing a goal where measures were not available was not the recommended model.\u00a0 Everyone knew about the deadlines prior to developing goals. Multiple years of data can be used per the state legislation.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

3. \u00a0 The state has provided little or no direction with regards to weighting models or the development of effective growth models. However, we are still moving in the right direction with our model and plan to have more consistency with the measurements that we choose in the future.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

4. \u00a0 We have decided to give all teachers a highly effective rating on the district growth measurement percentage due to the fact that we were rated the 14th best school by Bridge magazine and we received a good rating with our district report card that included improvements in many areas.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

5. There were some questions submitted by administrators and answers to those questions will be added to the FAQ sheet on the AYP blog.\u00a0\u00a0We discussed them during the meeting.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

6.\u00a0 Dr. Klee is leading a process via the district assessment committee where we will analyze our district assessments and make recommendations for reducing assessments and consolidating our resources so that we develop more valid and reliable growth measures.<\/p>\n

7. If the state ratifies bills calling for changes to the evaluation process in Michigan the committee will get together immediately to formulate a recommended plan of action.<\/h2>\n
