Welcome to the High School Boundary Proposal Forum<\/p>\n

Here is where you will find information regarding the proposed changes to the high school boundaries in the Dearborn Public Schools.<\/p>\n

Presentations presented at Board meetings, maps, schedule of community meetings, feedback forms, and other important information will be posted to this site.<\/p>\n

Almost thirty consecutive years of enrollment gains have brought Dearborn\u2019s numbers from just over\u00a0\u00a012,000 in the late 1980\u2019s to approximately 21,000 in 2017-18 making it the third largest school district in the state.<\/p>\n

Through the 1990\u2019s the district\u00a0\"Student<\/a>replaced aging buildings and added new schools.\u00a0 In 2003, a $150,000 million bond proposal provided for additions at all three high schools and the building of the Berry Career Center.\u00a0 Now, projections show continued increases at the high schools, especially Dearborn High and Fordson which currently enroll 2,077 and 2,790 respectively.<\/p>\n

The Board of Education started the discussion on high school enrollment numbers back in March, 2017 and since that time the topic has been part of almost every Board meeting including a special study session held in August.\u00a0 At the study session, that was open to the public, the Board was able to review data, examine options, and consider proposed changes to the high school boundaries that would balance enrollment at the high school level.<\/p>\n

The Board of Education has not made any decision regarding these plans. The District is in the information gathering stage of the process. The Board will make a decision once they have collected feedback from the community, looked at all options, and then will vote as a Board on a final plan.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n
