Students took their Vocabulary quiz over terms 1-12 on ilearn and turned in their worksheet for scenes 1-4.  They continued to work through their metacognitive table which is due on Monday.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>H.W.  IXL Skill Y (1-7)  &#8211; must earn 80 or above,  make sure you place @bryantmiddle after your username or it will not work <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finish metacognitive table to turn in on Monday <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have missed any part of the play, you must read it &#8211; simply look up A Christmas Carol by Fred Gaines PDF for the reading.  You may try looking up the audio to see if it is available.  You have a quiz over the play on Wednesday and must be prepared. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Notebook check will take place either next week or the week we return.  Below are all the topics that I will check for both reflections and bell work:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SSR &amp;\nReflection #13:&nbsp; How can reading change you as a learner?&nbsp; How can it\nhelp you as a member of society?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SSR &amp;\nReflection #14:&nbsp; Summarize what you have\nread thus far in your novel. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SSR &amp;\nReflection #15:&nbsp;&nbsp;Complete a plot diagram for your story <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SSR &amp;\nReflection #16:&nbsp; Continue working on the plot diagram #15, and for #16\nwrite a 4-6 line rhyming poem about your novel.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SSR &amp; Reflection\n#17:&nbsp; Read for 10 minutes and then draw out a character from your\ntext.&nbsp; Identify who it is and label the characteristics that are unique to\nthat character.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SSR &amp;\nReflection #18:&nbsp; Write a letter to the author about your thoughts on the\nnovel.&nbsp; Make sure you elaborate by providing insight and possibly asking\nquestions.&nbsp; You should have at least 7 sentences.&nbsp; Start with Dear author\u2019s name\nand end with Sincerely, your name<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SSR &amp;\nReflection #19: Read first.&nbsp; Then provide a summary of what has happened\nthus far in your novel.&nbsp; Make sure you indicate important events and the\nbuildup of your characters. (12-15 sentences)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SSR &amp;\nReflection #20- Which character has changed as a result of events they have\nencountered in the novel?&nbsp; Elaborate in your explanation.&nbsp; (5-7 sentences).&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SSR &amp;\nReflection #21:&nbsp; Write a review about your book either promoting it or\ndiscouraging readers from picking it up to read.&nbsp; Rate it from 1-5 and\nthen discuss your reasoning.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bell Work #6:&nbsp; Explain the following-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cVera said:&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u2018Why do you feel you\nhave to turn everything into a story?\u2019&nbsp; So I told her Why:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; \u2018Because\nif I tell the story, I control the version.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Because if I tell the story, I can make you\nlaugh, and I&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>would rather have you laugh at me than feel\nsorry for me.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Because if I tell the story, it doesn\u2019t\nhurt as much.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Because if I tell the story, I can get\non with it.\u2019 \u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bell Work\n#7:&nbsp; What does the following mean to you? \u201cNormality is a paved road: It\u2019s\ncomfortable to walk, but no flowers grow\u201d &#8211; Vincent van Gogh&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bell Work\n#8:&nbsp; draw out what you remember of the format of an essay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Bell Work\n#9:&nbsp; What does the following by Abe Lincoln saying mean to you? \u201cNearly\nall men can stand adversity, but it you want to test a man\u2019s character, give\nhim power\u201d.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bell Work #10:&nbsp; Write the quote down and\nthen discuss what you think Leo Tolstoy was trying to say. \u201cFreethinkers are\nthose who are willing to use their minds without prejudice and without fearing\nto understand things that clash with their own customs, privileges, or\nbeliefs.&nbsp; This state of mind is not common but it is essential for right\nthinking.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We completed the reading of &#8220;A Christmas Carol&#8221; today.
