The vocabulary worksheet was returned with a grade.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We continued with our unit on Memoirs as students were able to choose 1 of 5 memoirs to focus on for the next few class periods. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>I will be grading the SSR Reflections (12 of them) and the Bell Work (5 of them) in the notebook on Thursday and Friday.  Below is the list of all the topics that you must have covered in there.  Make sure you have the current novel you are reading with you.  I will not accept this late and it will be a summative grade.  <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>H.W.  SAT 6 terms, Prepare your notebook for a check, looking ahead &#8211; there will be a quiz over &#8220;Dirk the Protector&#8221; next week.  I will let you know which day on Monday.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Reflection:\u00a0 #1 tell me the following information::<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The title and author of the book&nbsp;<ol><li>The lexile level&nbsp;<\/li><\/ol><ol><li>Why you chose this book&nbsp;<\/li><\/ol><ol><li>Something you already know about the events and the characters<\/li><\/ol><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Reflection #2: What do you know so far about your main\ncharacter?&nbsp; Think of the characterization and the 5 ways in which we\ncreate an understanding of a character:&nbsp; thoughts, physical appearance,\nwhat others say about them, what they say, and their actions.&nbsp; Hit on each one of those elements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Reflection #3: Reflect on the style in which the author\nwrites.&nbsp; How does s\/he appeal (get your attention) to you as a\nreader?&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Reflection # 4:List all the characters you have encountered thus\nfar and give a brief summary of what you know about each.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Reflection #5:&nbsp; <strong><em>Write <\/em><\/strong><strong><em>the excerpt from <\/em><\/strong><strong><em>your novel that best\nprovides imagery.<\/em><\/strong> Make sure you quote\n(\u201c&nbsp; &nbsp; \u201c) and indicate the author&#8217;s last name and page # &#8211;\nexample:&nbsp; (Hughes 25).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Reflection #6:&nbsp; Provide a summary of your novel, thus far. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Reflections\n#7: make a text-to-self comparison from the&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>novel you are reading (5-7\nsentences).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Reflection #8:&nbsp; Choose the most significant passage you have\nread in the story that has stayed with you.&nbsp; Explain its\nsignificance.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Reflection #9:&nbsp; What do you think inspired the author to\nwrite this book?&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Reflection #10:&nbsp; In grade\nbook already \u2013 SSR in library <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Reflection #11:&nbsp; Draw a scene that stands out in your&nbsp;\nmind from the novel and label all the important objects\/people.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Reflection #12:&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>What is the title of the\nbook you are currently reading?&nbsp;&nbsp;<ol><li>Who is the\nauthor?&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li><\/ol><ol><li>How long have you been\nreading it?&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li><\/ol><ol><li>What is your impression of\nit so far?&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li><\/ol><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Bell work: &nbsp; In your notebook write down the words for\ntomorrow\u2019s quiz and define all of them.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li><li>Bell Work #2:&nbsp; What does the following mean to you? &nbsp;\u201cThere\nis no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside of you.\u201d&nbsp;<\/li><li>Bell Work #3:&nbsp; Analyze the following saying and explain how\nit could apply to you or anyone else: <\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWatch your thoughts, they become your words. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Watch your actions, they become your habits. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Watch your habits, they become your character. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Watch your character, it becomes your destiny.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Bell Work # 4- What do you need to survive?&nbsp; What would you\ndo if you were alone without the help and supervision of any adults?<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Bell Work #5- Choose one\nof the following quotes and discuss what it means to you?<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAny person capable of angering you becomes your\nmaster; he can anger you only when you permit yourself to be disturbed by him.\u201d\nBy Epictetus<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s an universal law\u2014intolerance is the first sign of an\ninadequate education.&nbsp; An ill-educated\nperson behaves with arrogant impatience, whereas truly profound education\nbreeds humility\u201d \u2013 Solzhenitsyn <br>\n<br>\n\u201cThinking is difficult, that\u2019s why most people judge\u201d &#8211; Jung<br>\n<br>\n<br>\n<br>\n<br>\n<br>\n<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Note: I will not be accepting late work and there won&#8217;t be a retake for SAT 6 &amp; 7 for the remaining week+ of the card marking.
