This is a result of Governor Whitmer\u2019s order to close all K-12 school buildings, public, private, and boarding, starting Monday, March 16 until Sunday, April 5.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Dearborn Public Schools spring break will take place from Monday, April 6 through Friday, April 10. Students will return to school on Monday, April 13, 2020.\/<\/p>\n\n\n\n REMIND<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n I\u2019m sure that you have already downloaded the Remind 101 app for your mobile device. In order to receive reminders from Ms. Colter and myself please text the following message @dbc668<\/strong> to 81010<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Classroom expectations for remote learning:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Over the next few weeks until we can attend school again, I will be posting assignments in accordance with the district\u2019s expectations for remote learning which means that I will be posting daily articles this week relating to various aspects of World History and the Industrial Revolution for you to read and ponder its significance. I will also be posting assignments with various due dates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n As a social studies class Ms. Colter and I want to support you in your goal of having an SRI score of 1200 (roughly the reading level of an 11th<\/sup> grader during the last half of their junior year) and providing you with relevant articles is a great way to support you. Now, as the next few weeks provide us with clarity to the state and district\u2019s plans, we might offer alternative assignments or a more rigorous curriculum but we\u2019ll cross that bridge when we get there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Free Meal Pick Up Provided by Dearborn Public Schools:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Starting today (March 17th<\/sup>), Dearborn Public Schools will offer free pickup breakfast and lunch to all of our students at any of the following six school locations: Fordson High School, Dearborn High, Edsel Ford High School, McCollough\/Unis Middle School, Salina Intermediate and Woodworth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The grab-and-go meals will be available from 10 a.m. to noon from now through April 3rd<\/sup>. Hopefully they will extend it over spring break (April 6th<\/sup> through 10th<\/sup>)<\/p>\n\n\n\n This is a great resource and if it can be useful to your family any child age 18 or younger is invited to receive a meal. Be sure to bring your younger siblings along with you so you can all have enough to eat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n CHROME BOOKS<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n We will be passing out chromebooks for students who need one. Chromebooks will be passed out Thursday, March 19<\/strong>th<\/sup><\/strong> from 10:00am to 1:00 pm and Friday, March 20th from 10:00am to 1:00pm.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Distribution of chrome books will be in the back parking lot, next to the Freshmen Academy. Parents must come to the school, present their child\u2019s student id and sign a form to receive a chromebook. Only one chromebook will be given per family. If your family received one from the middle school or elementary, we will not provide another one. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Once a student receives the chromebook, they need to sign on and check their teachers\u2019 blogs for assignments. Reminder Chrome books will not, I repeat will not be given away without Student ID<\/p>\n\n\n\n We ask that everyone exercises patience during this process. Our goal is to support all our students during this difficult time. Finally, take care of what is important:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n This should go without saying but during the next few weeks make sure that you are not only taking care of those around you but that you are taking care of yourself. Set goals for yourself that will help you be a better person and develop a sense of pride in the young man or woman that you\u2019re becoming. Focus on staying healthy but come back to school in a few weeks a better version of you than I have met before who is ready to work and close this year out right.
