The Dolch words: own, show, know, now, how<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;re continuing to focus on informational text in both reading and writing.\u00a0 We&#8217;re reading and writing facts about a girl who&#8217;s family is deaf and also reading facts about owls so we can write what we&#8217;ve learned about these birds.<\/p>\n<p>Our math lessons continue with measuring and comparing lengths using meters and centimeters. We&#8217;ve learned that a centimeter is about the width of our pinky finger, an unsharpened pencil is about 20 centimeters, and our arms stretched out is about a meter. We also learned that 1 meter is about 2 of our classroom desks pushed together. We&#8217;ve been calling these Benchmark measures.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;re beginning a new Science unit so the for the next 6 weeks or so we&#8217;ll be learning all about water, where it&#8217;s found on Earth, what those are called: river, ocean, stream, pond, lake, glacier. And how water has shaped Earth&#8217;s surface.<\/p>\n<p>Social Studies is still reading different maps. This week is comparing Dearborn to another community using maps to see what&#8217;s the same and what&#8217;s different.<\/p>\n<p>Please remember, some of you having conferences with me this Thursday after school. If you can&#8217;t make it for some reason, please send me an email.
