Our spelling words this week focus on the vowel i: short and long sound: fix, did, fine, hike, trick, find, like, live, little, five<\/p>\n
We’re continuing the reading strategy of asking and answering questions while reading a text. We’re using a Mr. Putter and Tabby story. If your child likes this story, many of these books can be found at the library.<\/p>\n
Our writing this week will be a personal narrative as well as writing our learning goals for the first semester.<\/p>\n
Math continues with fluency strategies for addition and subtraction within 100. I’ve sent home the homework explanations that go with each homework sheet. Those should help explain how things are being taught this year.<\/p>\n
I hope you heard about the hats we made as our science activity. We’re focused on the properties of matter and which materials have which properties to help solve a problem.<\/p>\n
We’ll be comparing different types of communities: rural (farm), suburban, urban (city) for social studies the next few weeks. We’ll be talking about how all communities are the same: they have people, businesses, building, places to have fun, houses, etc.<\/p>\n
As a congratulations to those 6 students who turned in their summer reading logs the first week of school, Dr. Moughni will be having an ice cream party this afternoon.<\/p>\n
