They will measure the length of an object twice, using length units of different lengths for the two measurements; describe how the two measurements relate to the size of the unit chosen.<br \/>\nAlso, students will use addition and subtraction within 100 to solve word problems involving lengths that are given in the same units, e.g., by using drawings (such as drawings of rulers) and equations with a symbol for the unknown number to represent the problem.<a href=\"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/bridger\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/293\/2017\/11\/Unknown-6.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1420\" src=\"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/bridger\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/293\/2017\/11\/Unknown-6.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"219\" height=\"230\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Writing<\/strong>: \u00a0Students will work on writing narratives in which they recount a well-elaborated event or short sequence of events, include details to describe actions, thoughts, and feelings, use temporal words to signal event order, and provide a sense of closure.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Science<\/strong>: Students will continue to learn about structure and properties of matter.\u00a0 We will be sorting, investigating and discussing rocks.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Social<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Studies-<\/strong>Students will\u00a0understand that communities are places where people live, work and play.\u00a0They will compare the physical and human characteristics of the local community with those of another community.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This week our second grade students will be working on: Reading: \u00a0Students will learn to describe how words and phrases (e.g., regular beats, alliteration, rhymes, repeated lines) supply rhythm and meaning in a story, poem, or song.
