This week our second grade students will be working on:<\/p>\n
Reading<\/strong>: \u00a0Students will learn how to compare and contrast\u00a0the most important points presented by two texts on the same topic.<\/p>\n Math<\/strong>: \u00a0Students will\u00a0partition circles and rectangles into two, three, or four equal shares, describe the shares using the words halves, thirds, half of, a third of, etc., and describe the whole as two halves, three thirds, four fourths. Recognize that equal shares of identical wholes need not have the same shape.<\/p>\n Writing<\/strong>: \u00a0Students will work on opinion writing. \u00a0They will work on drafting, editing, revising and publishing.<\/p>\n Science<\/strong>: Students will learn about plants and insects. \u00a0We will be investigating and discussing butterflies, mealworms\/beetles, silkworm moths and brassica plants.<\/p>\n Social Studies<\/strong>: \u00a0Students will learn about\u00a0resources to help us understand \u00a0about the past.
