They will also with guidance and support from adults and peers, focus on a topic and strengthen writing as needed by revising and editing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Math:\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>Students will learn\u00a0to\u00a0recognize and draw shapes having specified attributes, such as a given number of angles or a gibe number of equal faces. Identify triangles, quadrilaterals, pentagons, hexagons, and cubes.\u00a0 They will also fluently add and subtract within 20 using mental strategies.2 By end of Grade 2, know from memory all sums of two one-digit numbers.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Science:\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>Students will\u00a0plan and conduct an investigation to describe and classify different kinds of liquids by their observable properties.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Social Studies:\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>Students will be learning to understand the difference between a need and a want and will list items that are a need or want. \u00a0They will also be learning about goods and services and how they are different from each other.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Our second grade students will be working on: Reading:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Students will learn to explain how specific images (e.g., a diagram showing how a machine works) contribute to and clarify a text.
