Our second grade students will be working on:<\/p>\n
Reading:\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0Students will learn how to\u00a0compare and contrast two or more versions of the same story (e.g., Cinderella stories) by different authors or from different cultures. \u00a0They will also learn how to use information gained from the illustrations and words in a print or digital text to demonstrate understanding of its characters, setting, or plot.<\/p>\n Writing:\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0Students will write opinion pieces in which they introduce the topic or book they are writing about, state an opinion, supply reasons that support the opinion, use linking words (e.g.,\u00a0because<\/i>,\u00a0and<\/i>,also<\/i>) to connect opinion and reasons, and provide a concluding statement or section.Students will with guidance and support from adults and peers, focus on a topic and strengthen writing as needed by revising and editing. \u00a0They will recall information from experiences or gather information from provided sources to answer a question.<\/p>\n Math:\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>Students will learn\u00a0to\u00a0recognize and draw shapes having specified attributes, such as a given number of angles or a gibe number of equal faces.
