{"id":1179,"date":"2017-12-03T21:01:37","date_gmt":"2017-12-04T02:01:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/harrisc\/?p=1179"},"modified":"2017-12-03T21:01:37","modified_gmt":"2017-12-04T02:01:37","slug":"focus-for-the-week-of-december-4-2017","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/harrisc\/2017\/12\/03\/focus-for-the-week-of-december-4-2017\/","title":{"rendered":"FOCUS FOR THE WEEK OF DECEMBER 4, 2017"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Our second grade students will be working and practicing these skills this week:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Reading:<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0Students\u00a0will learn to recount stories, including fables and folktales from diverse cultures, and determine their central message, lesson, or moral.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Writing<\/strong>: Students will learn to write narratives in which they recount a well\u2010elaborated event or short sequence of events, include details to describe actions, thoughts, and feelings, use temporal words to signal event order, and provide a sense of closure.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Math:<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0Students will learn to understand that the three digit number represent amounts of hundreds, tens, and ones; e.g. 706 equals 7 hundreds, 0 tens, and 6 ones.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Science:<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0After identifying three states of matter (solid, liquid, gas), students observe a variety of solid objects.
