Our second graders will be working and practicing these skills this week:<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Reading;\u00a0<\/strong>Students will identify the main purpose of a text, including what the author wants to answer, explain, or describe. They will learn to compare and contrast the most important points presented by two texts on the same topic. Writing:\u00a0 \u00a0<\/strong>Students will choose a topic of interest like: \u00a0community helpers; weather; animals; biographies; insects or mammals. They will work on finding and researching their topic and including it in their writing.<\/span> Math: \u00a0<\/strong>Students will learn to tell and write time from analog and digital clocks to the nearest five minutes, using a.m. and p.m.<\/p>\n Social Studies: \u00a0<\/strong>Students will continue learning about maps and map symbols. \u00a0They will learn about different forms of transportation and how this relates to school and home.<\/p>\n Science: \u00a0<\/strong>Students will investigate soil by learning how to make it and discovering how it is made.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Our second graders will be working and practicing these skills this week: Reading;\u00a0Students will identify the main purpose of a text, including what the author wants to answer, explain, or describe.
