We have many things planned for our students this year, including performances, reading music notation, rhythm, pitch, musicianship, movement, dance, singing, creating, playing recorder (gr. 4), playing band or stringed instruments (gr. 5), music and science (gr. 3), and our annual third grade music tournament. \u00a0We are looking forward a great year in music with your children!<\/p>\n<p>I had a wonderful time seeing so many parents during our Open House and look forward to seeing you all at our concerts. \u00a0All information will be posted to this blog so be sure to check back often. \u00a0You will find many wonderful nuggets on the blog so feel free to explore the &#8220;categories&#8221; drop down menu items.. \u00a0If you would like the most up to date information as it is posted just\u00a0click on the &#8220;Subscribe&#8221; button and enter your email address.<\/p>\n<p>This year we have three vocal music teachers and one instrumental music teacher at Miller:<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0Ms. Harden<\/strong> (Full TIme-everyday) teaching K-4<\/p>\n<p>hardens@dearbornschools.org<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ms. Conway<\/strong> (Tuesday a.m.) teaching grade 4\/5<\/p>\n<p>conwaym@dearbornschools.org<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ms. Conrad<\/strong> (Friday a.m.) teaching 5\/2<\/p>\n<p>conradt@dearbornschools.org<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mr. Gozzard<\/strong> teaching instrumental music (Band and Strings) grade 5.<\/p>\n<p>gozzarg@dearbornschools.org<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>4th Grade<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>4th graders will be learning to play the recorder this year! \u00a0We will be playing <strong>YAMAHA<\/strong> brand recorders. \u00a0There are different instrument options:<\/p>\n<p>1. Purchase your own recorder at a local music store. \u00a0Recorders cost approximately $10. \u00a0Wonderland Music, Anderson Music and Marshall Music all carry YAMAHA recorders. \u00a0You can also find them online. \u00a0Look up: YAMAHA Soprano Recorder.<\/p>\n<p>2. \u00a0Use a YAMAHA school recorder. \u00a0School recorders will be assigned to any student in need of a recorder. \u00a0School recorders are used from year to year by students and are not new. \u00a0School recorders\u00a0must be turned in immediately following the concert. \u00a0In the case of loss or damaged a $10 fee will be assessed.<\/p>\n<p>3. \u00a0Borrow a recorder from a sibling or family member making sure it is the YAMAHA brand.<\/p>\n<p>Dollar Store recorders will not work for music class as they are toys. \u00a0These recorders are not musical instruments and cannot be played in tune.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>5th Grade<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>All\u00a0interested\u00a05th grade students will have the opportunity to play a band or stringed instrument this year! \u00a0Instruments typically offered are: \u00a0Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone, Violin and Viola. \u00a0There is a small fee for use of school instruments. \u00a0See Mr. Gozzard for payment plan details. \u00a0Mr. Gozzard is currently at Miller on Wednesday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>If you have any questions please contact any of us via email.<\/p>\n<p>To all Miller students, have a great year and happpy singing, playing and learning!!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hello parents and students!!
