1st-3rd- Have them pick a letter from a bag.  Have them go to the NASA Picture dictionary and select a word that begins with that letter.  Have them make a frayer model paper plate with word, definition, sentence and picture. They will use pencil in my class, and go over it in class or at home to color and finish. ( Have Harrison and Beavers whole class come)

1st –1. Show video- the order of the library or book_______2. select a book from each alphabet section in the early fiction and have it at the tables- leave sticks in from where I selected them.  2. Have them read, picture walk the book. 3. Talk about copyright date on the copyright page, and the title page. Have the students copy down the title, author, a place of publication and copyright date.  Have them switch books with another student at the table.Students will then go to the letter on their spine label, return their book, and select another book from the same letter for the next class to use. Ms. Dillards can put on the cart for tomorrow.

Talk about how you might have a subject, or something they have seen. Have them talk out a poem to a partner, and write it down.  Read some Shel silverstein and Jack Pretlusky poems to the class. Reshow them the rhyming dictionary- and the new one. and rhyming list. Add to 3rd grade page.
