{"id":1341,"date":"2017-09-07T23:02:52","date_gmt":"2017-09-08T03:02:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/hammouh\/?p=1341"},"modified":"2017-09-07T23:02:52","modified_gmt":"2017-09-08T03:02:52","slug":"welcome-back-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/hammouh\/2017\/09\/07\/welcome-back-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Welcome Back!!!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dear Parents,<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Welcome to a new year! \u00a0I am really excited about being your child\u2019s teacher this year. \u00a0Fourth grade is an exciting year. \u00a0Much of your child\u2019s success will be determined by the communication between school and home. \u00a0Each night your child is expected to log onto the classroom blog where they will find their assignments for the day\u2019s homework. \u00a0It is necessary for your child to complete all homework and have an adult look over it. \u00a0In addition, all tests taken in class will be sent home for you to sign and return to school the next day. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Attendance<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">School begins at 8:35. \u00a0We ask that all students line up on the playground. \u00a0Students entering school after 8:45 must be accompanied by a parent and sign-in at the main office. \u00a0Students will not be allowed to enter the class without a parent signature. \u00a0If your child is unable to attend school please contact the school office at (313) 827-6850.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Dress Code<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Students must dress appropriately in a manner that is not distracting or disruptive to the learning process and weather suitable. Students are asked to follow the Dearborn Public School dress code.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>IBlog<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Please subscribe to my ibolg. \u00a0I will be posting weekly spelling lists, weekly focus, and daily homework assignments. \u00a0I will also post upcoming events such as test dates, late starts, etc. on the iblog.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Communication: \u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you have any questions or concerns about any of the work or tests, please do not hesitate to call or email me. \u00a0I will not be able to speak during teaching time, however I would be happy to speak to you before or after school or set an appointment with you.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Snacks<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Each day your child may bring in his\/her own healthy snack. \u00a0Some healthy snacks ideas are: \u00a0fruits and vegetables. \u00a0Your child may also bring in a water bottle with a top.<\/span><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Studying<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Throughout the school year I will be sending home study guides for upcoming tests. \u00a0I will also conduct review sessions with students where they will take notes and ask questions about the test. \u00a0This is a skill that they must learn to practice. \u00a0It is important that they know if a test is a few days away that they begin preparing for it. \u00a0If they learn good study habits when they are young, they will carry on in life. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Homework\/Assignments<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Your child will receive reading homework daily. \u00a0It is very important for your child to read 20 minutes each night. \u00a0In addition they may have to complete any work that was not finished during the day or complete a review assignment for something that we have already done in class. \u00a0In science, social studies, and math, your child will have a study guide to study from before taking tests in these subjects.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Grades are not given for homework. \u00a0However, if the homework is not completed or at least attempted the child will be penalized. \u00a0If your child does not understand the assignment and no one at home can give them assistance, simply write a note on the homework or email me. \u00a0This will help me to know what your child may still need to work on. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Supplies<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The school will furnish basic school supplies. \u00a0However, many students find it more convenient and may prefer to supply their own materials rather than share classroom supplies. \u00a0Please label all personal items with student\u2019s names. \u00a0These supplies will belong to your child, with exception to the boxes of Kleenex.
