The\u00a0<strong>theme<\/strong> of the story\u00a0is to learn to love yourself no matter what others may think. This is shown throughout the story. In the beginning,\u00a0<strong>Chrysanthemum<\/strong>\u00a0loves her name and thinks it&#8217;s perfect. She then goes to school and kids there make fun of it and say it&#8217;s too long and too different because it is a kind of flower.
