Guests can attend online to get overviews of the different options, and then ask questions to learn more. The presentations will also be recorded and available later on the district YouTube channel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meetings are set for the following dates.&nbsp; Click on the date to find the Zoom link.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/dearbornschools-org.zoom.us\/j\/87629654304?pwd=VlRtTWJ1cjN1UStSUnRNZzBsUHkrdz09\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Dec. 8 at 5 p.m<\/a>.<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/dearbornschools-org.zoom.us\/j\/82372871909?pwd=WDZ2VEJRVXB1QWJQOGFaL0p0RVJsQT09\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Jan. 12 at 5 p.m.<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/dearbornschools-org.zoom.us\/j\/89914445060?pwd=ODdlYm1HRlRBaUp3L3F0UVFmU3FDdz09\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Feb. 9 at 5 p.m.<\/a><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Students are encouraged to start planning now for next year\u2019s classes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Eighth grade students will need to commit in the spring if they are interested in attending certain programs that run for all of high school. This would include applying for Henry Ford Early College programs that allow students to attend for five years and get both a high school diploma and associate degree or vocational certification at no cost to the family.&nbsp; Henry Ford Early College allows students to specialize in medical or education careers, and Henry Ford Early College Advanced Manufacturing focuses on certain trades and technical fields.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some academically advanced eighth grade students will also be invited to attend the Dearborn Center for Math, Science and Technology.&nbsp; Students in that program spend half their school day at the Dearborn Heights Campus attending advanced classes and half at their home high school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For students already in high school, the Secondary Options sessions will touch on many other options available to students including trade and other vocational programs, Advanced Placement classes, free dual enrollment in college classes, and the Henry Ford Collegiate Academy.&nbsp; Like the Early College, the Collegiate Academy allows students to attend for five years to earn a high school diploma and an associate degree.&nbsp; The Collegiate Academy and Early College programs are provided through a partnership between the district and Henry Ford College.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Parents can find an overview of the district\u2019s high school options on the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/dearbornschools.org\/academic-programs\/high-school-options\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">district website<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe know that allowing our students to explore careers, find their passion, and to prepare for life after graduation also makes them more successful in high school,\u201d said Superintendent Glenn Maleyko.\u00a0 \u201cWe hope parents and students will take advantage of these Secondary Options sessions to learn more about what we offer and to start developing a plan that works for their child.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Goals:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Inform parents and students of the options available to our high school students&nbsp;<\/li><li>Inform parents of the application\/registration\/enrollment processes and requirements for each program<\/li><li>Provide a brief description of current courses\/programs and expectation of students in each program<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Secondary Options to be discussed:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Advanced Placement<\/li><li>Dual Enrollment<\/li><li>Career Technical Education and Michael Berry Career Center<\/li><li>Dearborn Center for Math, Science and Technology<\/li><li>Henry Ford Early College Health Science<\/li><li>Henry Ford Early College Advanced Manufacturing<\/li><li>Henry Ford Early College Pre-Education<\/li><li>Henry Ford Collegiate Academy<\/li><\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Does your child want to prepare for a career right out of high school?&nbsp; Earn an associate\u2019s degree at no cost to your family?&nbsp; Take challenging academic classes and earn acceptance at a top-tier university?
