They applied the R.A.T.E method to an informational text entitled, &#8220;Surviving Hurricane Sandy&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">R<\/span><em> ead- Read along using pen or pencil and make \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0comments.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">A<\/span><em> nnotate- Take notes while reading. Highlight \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 important details.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">T<\/span><em> hink- Place question marks next to the text that is \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 confusing. Ask questions to the text.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">E<\/span> <em>ncode- Transfer text into words that are more \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0understandable.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Every student will be given a progress report Tuesday in class.
