Maybe there is karma, or some confluence of the universe, but earlier today I began contemplating if and how to begin work on an anthology of poetry from poets past and present that speaks to and from#BlackLivesMatter.

Americans and Their Flags
Colin Kaepernick, the San Francisco 49ers quarterback, has created an uproar among football fans and others by refusing to standfor the national anthem. “I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color,” he said.
Why are national symbols, staples at many sporting events, so important to Americans?
