Free Online Resources to Help Michigan<\/b><\/h1>\n

\u201cBuild a Better World\u201d This Summer<\/b><\/h1>\n

Dear Parents,<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

This year\u2019s summer reading theme is \u201cBuild a Better World\u201d and the Michigan eLibrary (MeL) is here to help! Students of all ages can go to <\/span>MeL.org<\/span><\/a> to find eBooks and articles to read, conduct research, prepare for high stakes tests like the SAT<\/span>\u00ae<\/span>, or maintain\/improve basic skills. <\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

MeL provides all Michigan residents <\/span>free <\/b>access to quality, vetted subscription databases that can be used all year. \u00a0Resources are available 24\/7 and are mobile compatible. \u00a0Our awesome content providers have created a few short videos for you that highlight their resources for summer use; you can check them out on the MeL YouTube channel playlist \u00a0\u201c<\/span>Summer Slide Videos from our Partners<\/span><\/a>\u201d : (<\/span>https:\/\/goo.gl\/fDC4Be<\/span><\/a>). While you are there, \u00a0be sure to subscribe to the MeL Channel, so you can keep up to date with the latest tutorials and videos from MeL!<\/span><\/p>\n

Within MeL, you can find quality resources and weblinks organized into convenient portals. \u00a0For children from birth to 5th grade, <\/span>MeL Kids<\/span><\/a> (<\/span>kids.mel.org<\/span><\/a>) has four centers that will help support and build basic skills such as reading and math. \u00a0For the older students in grades 6 through 12, <\/span>MeL Teens<\/span><\/a> (<\/span>teens.mel.org<\/span><\/a>) offers a wealth of resources to not only maintain and build basic skills, but also improve research skills and help students prepare for life after high school with college or career information. \u00a0You can easily access the subscription databases in the Homework Help sections of these portals, or simply go to the <\/span>A to Z database list<\/span><\/a> (<\/span>databases.mel.org<\/span><\/a>). <\/span><\/p>\n

This summer, stop by your local public library for programming and learning opportunities. But don\u2019t forget to also use some of the Michigan eLibrary\u2019s popular K-12 databases featured in the attached table. Dive into MeL to help slow down the summer slide and \u201cBuild a Better World\u201d!<\/span><\/p>\n
